Should you do a first look?

First look vs down the aisle

Should you do a first look? Deciding if you should do a first look can be difficult. This Post will help you make that determination. Disclaimer: first looks tend to make great content for a wedding videographer, so I may be a little biased.

First look pros:

-Private, intimate moment

-Helps reduce the nerves of a wedding day

First looks can be so emotional and having a moment in private lets you be yourself. You can be affectionate at will, while a traditional ceremony typically adheres standard operating procedure.

Wedding day nerves can be real, especially if you and your partner are reading custom written vows. Doing a first look can reduce the nervousness and put the entire day into perspective before the ceremony.

Down the aisle pros:

-Traditional way

-more dramatic

Traditions are important. There’s a reason brides still wear white, cakes are cut and speeches are given. These elements work. They're tried and true. There can be great value to capturing your groom's reaction down the aisle. Oftentimes, grooms can become very emotional, which for a lot of men is uncommon.

Time considerations

If you have plenty of time ahead of the ceremony, and a beautiful location, the first look is a great option. However, If you have a late ceremony and a tight schedule, a first look probably isn't for you.
